Rescuing the Helpless!

I ran about 4 miles and walked one mile yesterday.

Today I ran somewhere in between 5-6 miles. (It felt so good, by the way!)

On both runs I rescued a turtle that was on the road about to be hit by a car. One was huge...it's shell was about 12 inches long...the other was tiny. After all the rain we have received this week, I guess the turtles were out and about. I actually saw 4 turtles on one run! I wish I could have brought one of them home for my younger children to see.

Today

I ran 4.5 miles on Monday and 6 miles today. Both great runs. There were 6 geese in a field close to the road that I passed this morning while running. I have seen ducks a few times, but never the geese this close up...usually they are flying up above me. The coolness and sunshine have made for some great running days!

Honeysuckles are Blooming

Ran 4.6 miles this morning. The air was much more humid today. I ran fine, but seemed to feel more fatigue going up some hills. I came home and did some weights. Squats, shoulder presses, lateral arm raises, lateral leg raises, walking lunges....about 3 sets of 20 of all of these.

I love running through through an area with honeysuckle bushes blooming on both sides of the road...the aroma is wonderful! I was, also, pleasantly surprised by 3 ducks waddling along by the road today. It was a very enjoyable run!

It is rainy and cool this morning, so I did the 30 day shred level one with 6.6 lb weights. I love this workout!

Sunday afternoon I went on a 5 mile walk with my 2 older daughters.

I was surprised with an early Mother's day gift on Friday of fresh flowers from my children and this from Mike and the kids:

Recipe for a nutrient dense green smoothie:

1 large handful of Kale...stems and all.
1 banana
1/2 cup of calcium enriched simply orange
Sambazon Acai organic berry puree (1 packet)
some frozen mango

Blend and enjoy!

This Week's Runs

Wednesday--4.5 mi
Thursday--3 mile run/3 mile walk
Saturday--4.68 mi

It was really cool this morning. I was actually chilly when I first started out, but by mile 2 I was working up a sweat. It felt good to run today and at the end of 4.68 miles, I felt like I could keep going. But, I am still very careful with my distance...don't want to do too much too fast. Great run, beautiful day!

Couldn't Resist

Today after we got home from church, lunch, and a little shopping, I headed out on what was planned to be a long walk....no running, just a relaxing Sunday walk...but as I approached my favorite huge steep hill after about 3 miles of power walking, I decided to walk down it and then run up it. I have not run it since my injury last spring and I was dying to take it on. What fun! I did it and it felt so good, I kept running. I ran about 4 miles with a few more hills.

So, a great walk/run today!

Walk--3 miles
Run--4 miles with hills....so fun!

It began raining lightly towards the end of the run and I was hoping to see a rainbow since it was also sunny...but none today. Love seeing rainbows!

3 and 4.5

I ran 3 quick miles on Thursday and 4.5 miles today. Today was warmer and the hills seemed tough with the sun beating down. I'm not complaining, I actually love the sunshine...my body just gets fatigued more quickly when it is warm out. We had some sun in between storms today. It poured this morning at our soccer games...now it is hot and sunny, but a chance of severe storms later tonight. I'm glad I could get a run in in spite of the weather.
